ONE SHELLEY STREET VOTED AUSTRALIA’S BEST IN AWARDS

One Shelley Street at King Street Wharf in Sydney’s CBD has claimed top honours at the fourth annual Property Council of Australia Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards.

The nation’s highest property industry award is the latest in a long line of accolades for the $316 million building, which is owned and managed by Brookfield Multiplex and fully leased to Macquarie Group

Property Council of Australia CEO Peter Verwer announced at the gala award dinner at Star City in Sydney tonight that One Shelley Street had received the major honour as well as the award for office developments.

Mr Verwer said One Shelley Street had been a major industry success story since its completion in February, 2009.

“The development of One Shelley Street, its concept, design, construction and operation has been a once in a lifetime journey for Brookfield Multiplex, Macquarie Group, the design team, subcontractors, suppliers and individual workers on the project,” he said.

“One Shelley Street is a striking combination of form, function and sustainability and it is a remarkable visual landmark in Sydney’s CBD.

“This exciting building with its 10 storey internal atrium features Australia’s first external diagrid structure and it has also set new benchmarks in environmental sustainability.

“Its features include passive chilled beams and a harbour heat rejection system and it has achieved a 6 Star Green Star rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.

“One Shelley Street has provided direct and indirect economic benefits to all stakeholders in the property – the owner, the tenant and the broader community.”

Mr Stephen Mee, Director of Rider Levett Bucknall Sydney said the Sydney community had benefitted enormously from the development of One Shelley Street and the overall King Street Wharf precinct.

“The project has opened up public access to Sydney Harbour and provided a new base for the Sydney charter boat industry, new roads and infrastructure and a new promenade,” he said.

“The exceptional overall design quality of One Shelley Street stands as the result of considerable effort and attention to detail from the design and construction teams.”
